While all vehicles are inspected some are currently exempt from the new emissions portion of the inspection. These include full-time, four-wheel drive vehicles; cars with Diesel engines; classic cars (25 years or more old); and vehicles driven less than 5,000 miles a year. All must pass a smoke check, the old curb idle emission test, and cannot have any emission controls removed.
